Double Ball Roulette releases two balls into a single-zero wheel on each spin. Two results, one round — and a paytable rebuilt around the fact that you now get two chances at every inside bet.
Inside bets pay per ball that lands in your covered set, at roughly half the usual price. A straight-up bet pays 17 to 1 instead of 35 to 1; if both balls land on your number, you are paid twice. Outside bets work the other way: both balls must land in the winning area, and the payout rises to compensate.

Edges are computed directly, treating the two balls as independent draws over 37 pockets. Live operators publish slightly different figures because their paytables differ in the rounding — always read the table's own help screen. Inside bets are the good side of this game. Outside bets requiring both balls cost over 5% — roughly American-roulette territory. If you play Double Ball, play the inside.
Why the two-ball straight-up is close to normal
Bet one unit straight up on 17. Across two independent balls the chance that exactly one finds it is 2 × (1/37) × (36/37) = 5.26%, paying 17 units. The chance both find it is 1/1369 = 0.073%, paying 34. Everything else loses the unit.
Expected return works out at 97.22%, so the edge is 2.78% — a whisker above European. The distribution, though, is completely different: you win far more often at a much smaller price, plus a rare double hit worth 34 units.

In the RNG version modelled here, yes — the two draws are independent, so both balls can land on the same number. That is the outcome that pays a straight-up bet twice.
Why do straight-up bets only pay 17:1?
Because you get two chances at the number instead of one. Paying 35:1 per ball would hand the player a large positive expectation, so the payout is roughly halved.
Is Double Ball better than European roulette?
On inside bets it is close to identical in cost, with a livelier distribution. On outside bets it is clearly worse. It is a different shape of the same game rather than an improvement.
